LIBERTY - Mrs. Vallie Butler Ray, 100, of Liberty passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Ray was a homemaker and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a life long member of Liberty First United Church of Christ.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty First United Church of Christ officiated by Rev. Marion Smith; burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was the daughter of the late Jim and Dora Kivett Butler and was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thomas Ray; one daughter, Shirley Ray Parker and one grandson, Nelson Smith.
Surviving are two daughters, Naomi Ray Staley of Liberty and Peggy Ray Edwards (Jim) of Siler City; one son, Kelly Vance Ray of the home; two sisters, Margaret Cheek and Virginia Fonzo of Liberty, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
