Funeral services for Mrs. Reynold Fishwild, 80, were held at the Wyoming Presbyterian church December 8, with the Rev. W.P. Nicholas in charge. He was assisted by the Rev. Mr. Nickless of the Davenport First Presbyterian church, a son-in-law of the deceased.
Pallbearers were W.J. Beckwith, R.H. White, Henry Siler, Dr. E.N. Stoffel, A.W. Beck and C.B. Shaffer, Close friend of Mrs. Fishwild.
Tabitha Evans was born in Ridge Springs, Ohio, January 23, 1859 and died at her home in Wyoming, December 5, 1939. During her childhood she moved to Preemption, Ill. where she married Reynold Fishwild, October 26, 1881. The couple came to Wyoming to establish their new home. On October 26, 1931, their Golden wedding was celebrated by an unbroken family circle.
The most precious place to Mrs. Fishwild was her home. Hers was a life whose beauty could not have been finer, if the whole world had known it. A life given entire to others. A life of devotion and loyalty to her home, family and community. This seemed as natural to her as strength to a mountain. One of the many who carry on gladly, willingly, joyfully the everyday work of the world, the trivial things concerned.
Six children blessed this home. A strong advocate of our excellent public schools, the six Fishwild sons and daughters were all graduates of Wyoming high school. This good woman loved her church and was a faithful worshiper in all its services; a valiant worker in its societies. She thoroughly believed keeping close to God.
The last few years of her life were years of suffering. How bravely and with how much courage she met it. Her children vied with one another in helping ease her often weary days, but her son, Henry, was her staff and support. Together they shared the old home. His tender, thoughtful, unceasing care at all times. Words can not express what it meant to this loved mother. Her last conscious thought and expressions were for him.
Her life has been made up of things that can not be wiped out. These family ties are too strong to be broken by the incident of death. Such love, such loyalties as hers are the golden threads which unite unseen worlds.
"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Yea saith the spirit, that they rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Etta Fordham of Colville, Washington, and Mrs. Ida Nickless of Davenport; four sons, Henry, George and Allison of Wyoming and Leslie of Clinton; 16 grandchildren and two great-grand children.
