A.A. Fishwild
Allison A. Fishwild, 89, of Wyoming, died Saturday, Dec. 31, in Anamosa Community Hospital.
Services were held Tuesday, Jan 3, at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Wyoming. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery. The Revs. James Mattson and Bill Hage officiated.
Pallbearers were George Dusanek, Max Parmer, Darrell Tracy, Clifford Dirks, Duane Wenndt and Robert Fishwild.
American Legion Post 259 presented the American flag to the family.
Mr. Fishwild was born at Wyoming Jan 9, 1894, to Reynold and Tabitha Evans Fishwild. He helped with the family general store in Wyoming and graduated from Wyoming High School.
While attending Coe College, Cedar Rapids, World War I broke out and he entered the Army, serving in France. After his discharge he returned to college and in 1923 received a degree in mining engineering from Colorado School of Mines.
Mr. Fishwild worked in mining areas in the West until moving to the family farm north of Wyoming in 1929. He helped his brother at the general store until it closed in 1902. He remained on the farm until his death.
He and Sophia Nissen were married April 23, 1935, at Clinton.
Mr. Fishwild was a 50-year member of Wyoming American Legion Post 259. He was also a member of Keystone Masonic Lodge 206 of Wyoming and the Jones County chapter of Veterans.
