TORREY G. OSGERBY, Hillman [Montmorency County, Michigan]

Died Saturday, January 12, [1991] at Pineview of Hillman. He was age 83. Born December 9, 1907, in Howell, he grew up in Vassar but graduated from East Tawas High School in 1926. He married Lucille Haviland January 15, 1929. She predeceased him June 14, 1984.

During World War II he was employed at the Defoe Ship Yard in Bay City. He also worked for Eaton Corp. in Vassar and retired from Fotchman Motor Co. in Alpena in 1975 with 20 years service.

He played the bass and violin in bands in Saginaw, the Thumb area, and Alpena. As a young musician he was a member of the Saginaw Symphony Orchestra. He was a director and served two years as president of the AARP Chapter in Alpena, and later was assistant state director of AARP for the Northern half of Michigan. He was a member of the Alpena Yacht Club, and also a member of the Atlanta Senior Citizens.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law Kenneth and Jean Buchinger, Robert and Joan Mouch, Gerald and Jane Kidder, all of Atlanta, and Louis and June Rice of Caledonia; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. One grandchild, William Buchinger, predeceased him July 5, 1987.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January I5, 1991, at Big Rock Congregational Church in Atlanta. Rev. Jeff Meyers officiated with burial in Briley Township Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Green Funeral Home, Atlanta.
