Redith Virginia Smith, 82, of Elkton, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Journeys Crossing in Elkton.

Mrs. Smith was born March 17, 1927, in Elkton and was the daughter of the late John R. and Bessie Lee Morris Knight. Redith retired from General Electric in Maryland, where she worked as a parts inspector in the Appliances Division. She was also a member of the Mercy Seat Pentecostal Church in the Tanyard Bridge area of Elkton.

On June 5, 1948, she married Floyd Lee Davis, who preceded her in death in 1976. In 1977, she married the Rev. Owen Smith, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Robert Lee Davis of Elkton; three brothers, Arnie Knight, Ervin Knight and Elmer Knight; two sisters, Gladys Knight Miller and Louise Knight Morris; a granddaughter, Denise Fray; as well as numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Knight, Dewey Knight and Wilmer Knight; and four sisters, Flossie Knight, Orie Belle Knight Lam, Margaret Knight Armentrout and Goldie Knight.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with the Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
