Died, at his home in Rosendale, on Monday forenoon, Mr. L. O. Ulvestad, an old settler and a man highly respected by his many acquaintances. The cause of his taking away was a combination of lung fever and pneumonia, his illness covering a period of only two days.
Mr. Ulvestad was born in Sogn, Norway, Jan. 9, 1843, and emigrated to this country with his parents in 1850, settling in Dane county, Wisconsin. After a residence there of sixteen years, during which time his mother passed away, the family removed to Fillmore county, this state, where he remained five years. He was married in 1871 to Miss Anna S. Jacobson, and together they started life in Watonwan county where he has ever since remained.
The deceased was educated at Albion academy, in Wisconsin, and taught a number of terms of school in various places. He has also held a number of public offices with honor and ability.
Two brothers and three sisters survive him, Mark Ulvestad, of Fillmore county; Truls O. Ulvestad, of Madelia; Mrs. Anna Campbell and Mrs. Betsy Holman, of Fillmore county, and Mrs. Turi Farnes, of Madison, Wis. Mark Ulvestad and Mrs. Holman were present at the funeral.
His wife is still living and all their children--eight boys and two girls--all of whom were able to be present at his burial.
The funeral was very largely attended, and occurred Wednesday. Revs. Green and Thorkveen conducted the services.
