Mrs. Thuri O. Farness died last Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. T. Lerdahl, 120 North Butler Street Madison, as the result of hemorrhage of the brain. Mrs. Farness had been ill since the first of March. She was 74 years of age. Mrs. Farness was born in Norway, coming to this country with her husband in 1847. They settled on a farm in the town of Windsor and were among the pioneer settlers of this locality.

The funeral took place Wednesday from the house at 11 o'clock, after which the remains were brought here on the noon train, and taken to the De Forest Lutheran church, where a very impressive funeral sermon was given by Rev. Aasgaard, who also officiated at Madison, the services there being conducted in English. Interment was made in the family lot in the Norway Grove cemetery.
