Virgie Murriel Jones Vines was born March 11, 1904 to the late John William and Rosanna E. Cheney Jones. She passed away February 24, 2000 at the age of 95 years.

She married Jesse Vines March 12, 1922. To this union three children were born; two boys and one girls. One child, a boy died in infancy. In January of 1932, she became mother to her niece, Essie Lee Jones. Essie's mother died when she was five days old. From the time Essie was seven days old, Mrs Vines was mother to her; she also helped take care of Eddie's brother and sister for a time.

Mrs Vines was a homemaker most of her life, but in later years she worked as kitchen helper at Reece's Hospital in Gardner, Kansas and in the fruit in Washington state. She was of the Baptist faith.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Verlin Vines and wife Maxine of Eudora, Kansas; Bonna Strout and husband Donnie of Pineville; Essie Gillihan and husband Orville of Dolph; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Hubert Jones and wife Esther of California and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, three sisters, six brothers and one half-brother.

Funeral services held February 27, 2000 at Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Calico Rock with Reverend Elvis Sneathern officiating. Pallbearers were Arthur Jones, John Cooper, Terry Jones, Victor Estes, Doyle Gillihan and Don Gillihan.

Interment was at Jones Cemetery at Boswell under the direction of Howard Funeral Home of Calico Rock
