Verlin, age 88, passed away at his home in Eudora. He was the son of Jesse and Virgie Vines. He served in the US Army during World War II in the South Pacific as a Sergeant in the 762 MP Battalion. He married Maxine Gillihan on December 10, 1949, in Izard County, Arkansas. Survivors include his wife, his children, Glenda Goodpaster, Richard Vines, Linda Davison, and Brenda Chase, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Bonna Strout and Essie Gillihan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Richard Vines II.
