The Stauffer direct line before 1800 is unknown. However, the enclosed records show a great Stauffer migration to America, settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They all were from Switzerland.

One son David, born 1810, came to Ohio, Ashland County. He married Elizabeth Roland, born 1814. Aunt Hat (Harriet Stauffer Moore) pointed out to me, the log cabin site located on Stream-Town Holler Road – way back in the woods and near her family farm place on that same road. David died, 47 years old, 1857 – buried in the Ohl cemetery on Route 42, Ashland County Ohio.

After her husband David Stauffer died, Elizabeth piled her furniture and four younger children, Harriet, Solomn, David, and Daniel in a wagon – her destination was Indiana were her eldest son Absolum had established a farm near New Haven, Indiana, previously. What a brave woman to drive horse and wagon 150 miles. They all were pioneer farmers in Indiana. She died 1892 – buried near New Haven, Indiana.

The older children remained in Ohio, Kate, Elizabeth, Joseph. He (Joseph) became Ashland County Treasurer for many years.

They had 10 children:

1. Absouom – Maried __________ - 6 children: Verne, Josie, Ella, Willie, Annie, and Callie.

2. Samuel – Married ___________- Enlisted in the Civil War – died in prison, 1 child: Libby.

3. Kate – Married Christian Funk – No children

4. Harriet – Married William Spindler – 8 children: Christian, John, Willie, Libby, Samuel, Kate, Jennie, David

5. Elizabeth – Married Harrison Funk – 2 children: Harry, Buelah.

6. Joseph – Married Annie Elliott – 2 children: Nettie, Howard.

7. William Harrison – Married Nancy Brubaker – 4 children: Wyoma, Benjamin Franklin, Harriet, Henry. (Raised on Streamtown Holler road farm)

8. Solomn – Married Mandy ________ - 8 children: Emma, Harley, Verne, Joseph, Burt, Jennie, Albert, Saul.

9. Daniel – Married Addie _________ - 5 children: Walter, William, Charles, Samuel, Zelda

10. David – Married ____________ - 3 children: Elizabeth, Clara, Hulda.

William Harrison and wife Nancy and four children lived in a small farm house, back corner of her father's Brubaker farm, Ashland County. His trade was a stone mason and erected many stone bridge supports in Ashland County roads – some still visible.

Their four children:

1. Wyoma married William Lutz, county mail carrier in Jeromesville, Ohio – Ashland County. Findagrave: Wyoma (66256208); William (66256207)

2. Harriet married Charles Moore, an Ashland County farmer.

3. Henry married Elizabeth Pugh. He was killed in a stone quarry accident, 1917, Pavonia, Ohio – Richland County. They had two children Eva and Mark.

4. Benjamin Franklin married Anna Mary Pugh. He was born in 1876 and died in 1957 and buried in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Ashland County. Anna Mary was born in 1881 and died in 1966. Findagrave: Benjamin (23311918); Anna (23311917)

Three children:

1. Edward: died an infant. (23311915)
2. Henry Reed: 1899 – 1970 – Stroke. (23311616)
3. Leroy: 1901 – 1919 – Flu epidemic. (23311916)

Henry Reed was born on June 1, 1899, Pavonia, Ohio, in a log cabin. He died in 1970 in Marion, Ohio. Married Lotus Lily McCormick, born November 29, 1899, in Munce, Indiana. Lived in Marion, Ohio, from 1918 – 1940. Moved to Ashland, Ohio, 1940 until 1968 when they retired in Port Orange, Florida. Henry was a book keeper and salesman. Three children:

1. Betty Jane was born on September 25, 1918 and married John Andrew Guthrie in June 1937. Three children: John Dennis, Henry Lee, Mary. They lived in Marion, Ohio.

2. Henry Reed Jr. was born on March 3, 1924. He died at 17 years old in August, 1941. Sinus infection.

3. Richard Lee was born on April 6, 1928 and married Catherine Kirk. Three children: Kirk Reed, James Lee, Joseph Elliott.
