Poor little William did not even live long enough to make the census. He is listed in the 1860 "Tennessee Mortality Schedule" for Lincoln County at 6/12 years, and as having died of "derangement of bowels and loins." His parents are not listed.
Is it possible that William was named after William Milstead? If Edward IS George's father and William IS Edward's father, William would be George's grandfather. Furthermore, assuming cited relationships are above reproach, William Rutledge would be Ruth's grandfather. Many of William's siblings and cousins are named in honor of family members.
