Sarah Jane Milstead, daughter of George Milstead and Ruth Rutledge, married the widower Ebenezer Birgie "E.B." Raby, son of James Raby and Judith Benton, on 12 February 1893 in Lincoln Co., TN.

Interestingly, E. B. was the father-in-law of Sarah Jane's sister, Margaret "Maggie" E. Milstead, who married Thomas Sims Raby. A Civil War veteran, he was also 20 years older than the 47-year-old Sarah; she was widowed two years later, almost to the day.

By 1900, Sarah is living with the family of her sister, Ruth "Ruthie" Palestine Rives, and still lived there in 1910, by which time, Ruth was also widowed and an otherwise empty-nester.

Sarah's obit lists her death as "near Booneville."
