Son of Harve & Lillie Johnson Apple was born on a farm NE of Braddyville, IA.

In his youth he confessed his faith in Christ and became a member of the Braddyville Methodist Church.

Claude was a rural country school teacher and a rural mail carrier out of Braddyville, IA.

On 30 June 1917 he married Violet Lorraine Pence in Savannah, MO.

He continued his employment, going to ST Joesph, MO in Jan 1920 as a postal clerk in downtown offices for two years. He returned to Braddyville and became a cashier of the Braddyville State Bank until Apr 1942 then onto the Page County State Bank at Clarinda, IA until Nov 1945.

Claude then worked as the Page County Clerk of Court for 15 years until he retired on 1 Jan 1963. In addition to this he still found time to handle insurance business and serve as Braddyville town clerk for 53 years. On retirement he and his wife were honored, a gold plaque was presented for their long service.
