BYRD M. BLANCHARD
---Byrd M. Blanchard, a retired blacksmith and former resident of La Plata and Kirksville, Missouri, died at St. Louis, Missouri Thursday, March 13, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph L. Ivanhoe, where he had resided since his retirement several years ago.
---Mr. Blanchard, the son of Lemuel and Lucinda Blanchard, was born August 21, 1867 at Newark (Knox County) Missouri.
---He was married to Miss Elizabeth Johnson on September 20, 1896. One daughter, Jessie, now Mrs. Ivanhoe, was born to this union.
---He is survived by his wife and daughter. He was the last surviving member of a large family.
---He was a member of the Methodist Church, Adair Lodge 365 A.F. & A.M., Kirksville chapter of O.E.S. and Modern Woodman.
---Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in the Christie Funeral Home at La Plata and were conducted by Rev. Gregory K. Poole, Methodist Minister, and the Adair Lodge 366, A.F. & A.M.
---The Masonic pallbearers were Leland S. Prather, George M. Longwith, Burl M. Clarkson, Samuel W. Motter, Ernest T. Scofield and Fred P. Kob, all of Kirksville. Honorary bearers were Lewis Perry, Waldo Cull, Pearl Drum, Delbert Dull, Herb Sears and Dr. Ralph Gillette.
---Those from a distance attending the funeral services were Mrs. Byrd Blanchard, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ivanhoe and Mrs. Edyth Swearingen of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Chatfield of Denver, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Logan Blanchard, Mr. Harry Blanchard, Mrs. Virginia Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Bragg and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Winens of Kansas City.
---Interment was in the La Plata cemetery.
