FORMER NEWARK MAN IS DEAD
B. H. Blanchard, Buried at LaPlata, Was a Blacksmith Until 80.
---B. H. (Bud) Blanchard, a blacksmith for forty-two years and who was born at Newark March 13, 1856, died at LaPlata Friday morning, where he had lived since 1895. He was 86 years old and was active at this trade until 80. His father, Lemuel Blanchard, was also a blacksmith and shod horses for the Union Cavalry during the Civil War.
---He was married to Pallas T. Miller Oct. 10, 1880, and eight children were born, of whom one daughter, Blanche, died in infancy.
---Surviving are his widow; seven sons and daughters, Mrs. Jessie Virginia Hill, Goodland, Kan.; H.C. and O.L. Blanchard, Kansas City; Ms. Minnie Talbot, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Mable Rhon and Mrs. Lulu Bragg, Troy, Mo., and Ralph W. Blanchard, Macon; twelve grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and one brother, Byrd M. Blanchard, of St. Louis.
---Mr. Blanchard had lived all his life in Missouri.
---The funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Oakley Ethington, and burial was in the LaPlata cemetery with the Masons in charge of the service.
