Avon Brenton Henley 1990 Bridgewater Bulletin

On July 2, 1990, friends and relatives were saddened by the passing of Avon B.Henley, 69, Chelsea, at the South Shore Regional Hospital.

Born in Chelsea on August 4, 1920, he was the youngest of eleven boys of the late Elijah and Mary (Baker) Henley.

He served overseas for sometime and owned and operated his own truck for many years.

He is survived by his wife, the former Edith Hebb; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Wayne Strickland, at home; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sharon Henley; granddaughter Jessica, Baker Settlement; seven brothers, Nahum, at home, Harry, Purl, George, Borden, and Irving, Chelsea; Walter, Bridgewater.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ida; and three brothers, Hazen, Kenneth, and Edmund.

The funeral service was held July 4, at Chelsea United Baptist Church, with Rev. A. Allaby officiating. This was one of the largest attended funerals in the church. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chelsea.
