Husband of Annette (Drago) Bowser, married twice and divorced. Married third to Olive Burrell briefly.

Father of Thura Sills 1884-1931 (Lafayette, IN), Frances Fletcher 1886-1984 CA and Arthur Jr 1893-1990 Arlington, VA .

AJ Bowser established the first daily newspaper in Valparaiso in September 1882 which did not last long.

On April 2, 1882 he went to Chesterton and took over the existing Chesterton Tribune and ran it until 1925 when he sold it to John Graessle.

He was the reading clerk in the Indiana Senate in 1899 and from 1907 to 1911, he served as Senator from Lake and Porter County.

This picture was taken in 1908 when AJ Bowser was a member of the Friday Night Club. It was in a Roy Hubbard photo album at the Westchester Twp History Museum, 700 W Porter Ave, Chesterton, IN.
