Irene Mildred Duckett Roberts
1913 - 2008

Irene Mildred Duckett Roberts, a loving sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 4, 2008.

Irene was born in Provo, Utah on October 11, 1913, the second child of Edward James and Jessie Souter Duckett. She graduated from Provo High School in 1929 and married the love of her life, Jesse Max Roberts, a lineman for Utah Power and Light, on February 10, 1930. They were sealed in the St. George Temple on March 24, 1978 and were able to celebrate their 70th anniversary three weeks before Max died.

They traveled much of the world together and loved to dance. Irene was always kind to everyone. Her happy, excited attitude made her the life of every party. She loved life and carried a happy optimism throughout her 94 years of life - lived to the fullest.

Irene managed the General Electric Store in Orem, for many years; worked in the Provo City Courthouse; and was a fabulous salesperson. She served faithfully in the Primary and MIA of the LDS church and was an active member throughout her life.

Irene was the mother of 6 children: Maxine Cole (Stanley) of Spanish Fork, Utah; Nadine Laycock Attaway (Andy) of Seattle, Washington; Calleen Martineau (Marty) of Provo, Utah; J. Bert Roberts (Lois) of Seattle, Washington; Kent M. Roberts (Jilene) of Fairview, Utah and Bliss D. Roberts (MaryAnn) of Sandy, Utah. She had 28 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by all of them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Max Roberts; her parents, Edward James and Jesse Souter Duckett; brothers, Art and Jack Duckett; sisters Ethel Kilgore and Beverly Dunford; a grandchild Elizabeth Luke and great-granddaughter Ashley Whitmore.
