Ethel Jessie Duckett Rambeau Killgore

Ethel Jessie Duckett Rambeau Killgore returned to her Father in Heaven June 4, 1996. She passed away in Salt Lake City.

Ethel was born July 14, 1905, in Liverpool, England, to Edward James and Jessie Souter Duckett. She was proud to be the eldest grandchild on both sides of her family. She was also very proud to have lived in England and her memories of her birthplace were cherished by her. She left England with her parents after they joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They came to Utah and she has resided here ever since. Her first vocation was working with her Aunt Elizabeth Souter who was writing Society for the Provo Herald, a semi-weekly at the time. During the summer of 1920, Ethel started working for the Herald for the owner and editor, E.C. Rodgers. Ethel was Society and Women's Page editor when she was 16-years-old and with the exception of two years, she remained with the Provo Herald until September of 1946. She was there when the paper grew from a semi-weekly to a daily and she loved her work there. She wrote Provo Society for the Salt Lake Deseret News for 12 years.

She married Edmond Maurice Rambeau of Provo and a little girl, Marjorie, was born to them on August 31, 1924. Marjorie died very suddenly on February 6, 1925. Ethel was later divorced from Mr. Rambeau.

She was president of the Provo Business and Professional Women's Club for three years. She was active in the Soroptimist Club, the Literary section of the Women's Council and the Clivell Social Club for many years.

She married John Perry Killgore on September 16, 1946. in Provo, and they resided in Salt Lake City. John later joined the Church and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 20, 1964. They were active members of the Church.

Mrs. Killgore was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter and two brothers, Arthur L. Duckett and John S. Duckett. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. Max (Irene) Roberts of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. A. Rex (Beverly) Dunford of Provo. She leaves many loving nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 10, 1996, at 2 p.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. or Monday after noon, one hour prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
