Serena Bakke
Serena B. Bakke, 95, died Monday in Whitefish.
She was born Aug. 1, 1887, in Fergus Falls, Minn., to Haagen and Randi Kastella. At the age of 19 she married Peter A. Bakke in Fergus Falls. They lived on a farm there until moving to the Gildford, Mont., area in 1911. In 1947 they moved to Whitefish, where they retired.
Mrs. Bakke was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and the American Lutheran Church Women and a member of the Navy Mothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956, and by a son and daughter.
Survivors include four sons, James, Whitefish, Lloyd L., Gildford; Alf C., Vancouver, Wash.; and Ralph O., Kenosha, Wis.; three daughters, Ruth Barlow, Hillsboro, Ore.; Edna Davis, Florence, Ariz.; and Betty Thotus, Spokane; two brothers, Oscar Kastella, Fergus Falls; and Alf Kastella, Whitefish; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish, with Rev. Harold Peterson officiating.
