Harry Edwin Rushton, 86, of Elkhart, formerly of Bloomington, was welcomed to his heavenly home by Jesus on February 13, 2011. He was born July 3, 1924 in Hendricks County to Carl and Ruby (Ludlow) Rushton. He was a 1949 graduate of Bloomington High School. Harry served during WWII in the United States Navy. He worked at Sarkes Tarzian for 20 years before opening Electrodyn Tuner Service in Spencer and then Bloomington. Mr. Rushton was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, and enjoyed fishing, golfing, carpentry, and being with his family.
Harry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Colleen (Strother) Rushton, four sons; Harry Rushton Jr. of Solsberry, Larry Rushton (Della) of Ellettsville, Jerry Rushton (Lynn) of Indiana, and Jeff Rushton (Linda) of Poland, three daughters; Jan Tomai (Elbert) of Hawaii, Rona Reed (Bob) of Bloomington, and DeLisa Ferguson (Len) of Granger, two brothers; Carl Rushton of TN and Richard Rushton of Ellettsville, two sisters; Margaret Markham of TN, and Geneva Sare of Fishers, fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Julie Marie Rushton, and a sister Juanita Porter.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, February 17, 2011 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Ellsworth will officiate. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8pm and Thursday from 10-11am at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home, to Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and Center for Hospice Care in South Bend.
