WILMINGTON Funeral services for Shanklin Salyer, 79. will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday from the Coble Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Salyer died in a veterans hospital in Santa Monica, California. He Was a veteran of the Spanish American War. For the past four years, he had made his home with his son, John, in California. He was a former resident of Rocky Mount.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. A. B. Carr of Rocky Mount, Mrs. Porter Davis Jr. of Wilmington, Mrs. Clyde Gurkin of Washington, D. C; five sons, John W, os Santa Monica, Calif., Bryce F. of Florence, S. C, Clarence of the U S. Air Force stationed at Biloxi, Mississippi. Ray of New York City, and Roy of the U. S. Army stationed, at Madison Heights, Va.
