John Stencel, Sr. Dies in Greeley
John Stencel, Sr., of Greeley, a former Loveland resident, died Sunday morning in Greeley.
He was born July 19, 1885 at Shussenbock, Russia and came to Loveland in 1907. He moved to Greeley in 1925. He retired from farming in 1950, then worked for the city of Greeley until 1956.
His first wife, Mari Catherine, died Nov. 11, 1958, and on Aug. 7, 1960, he and Mrs. Katie Moore were married in Greeley.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katie Stencel, and the following children: Henry, Reuben, Ben and John Stencel, Jr., all of Greeley, Fred Stencel and Mrs. Herman (Esther) Foos, both of Camas, Wash., Joe Stencel of Wheatland, Wyo., Mrs. Conrad (Irene) Miller and Mrs. Henry (Lydia) Pappenheim, both of Eaton. There are 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. There also are four step-children, Mrs. Marie Brock, Ray Moore and Mrs. Gladys Straub, all of Great Bend, Kan. and Elmer Moore of Denver.
Services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, Greeley, of which the deceased was a member. Interment will be in Linn Grove cemetery, Greeley.
