Martha was the daughter of John Jackson and Mary (Mullins) Fleming.

Martha married Wesley Y. Vanover on July 29, 1860. He was 23 and she was 17 years old. Wesley was a farmer and they lived on the old home-place that had been settled by his parents in the 1840's - At the mouth of George's Fork; south side of the Pound River.

Wesley and Martha had 9 children:
1. Clarinda Dennis, b. Oct 1861 (m. Alex Mullins)
2. William Lloyd (m. Vanetta Aldridge)
3. Charlotte O. (m. (1) Will Mullins, and (2) Charlie Reed)
4. Noah Larkin (m. Mary Ellen Belcher)
5. Mary "Polly" Ann (m. Noah Mullins)
6. CREED MONROE (m. (1) Izetta Fleming, and (2) Ona "Onie" (Bolling) Stewart)
7. Cornelius J. (m. (1) Florence Fleming, and (2) Mattie Hunsaker)
