Katie Lee Short was born 7 Sept 1888 in Texas to the parents of Lanzo Short and Lucy. Katie married Howard Travis Kelley in 1905. They had 8 children: Thursa, Travis, Vivian, LB, TB, Clarence, Glenna Mae and Howard Paul. The family lived in Coleman, TX. 1940 census, Howard, Katie, LB, TB, Clarence, Glenna Mae were living in Dallas, Texas.

Obituary. Mrs. Katie Kelley- Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Lee Kelley, 80, of 1122 N. Madison, will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Kessler Park Baptist Church with Rev. Charles A. Thrasher and the Rev. Joe Milner officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill.
A native of Jacobs (sic), Texas, Mrs. Kelley had lived in Dallas 30 years. She was a member of Kessler Park Baptist Church.
She is survivied by five sons, Travis N., Larry, Tom, C. L. all of Dallas and Paul Kelley of Richardson; daughters, Mrs. Rowe Tankursley of DeSoto, Mrs. Carl H. Smith of Ft. Worth and Mrs. Glenna Smith of Midland. 17 grand children and 14 great grandchildren. Sisters Mrs. Henry McGarr of Ft. Worth, Mrs. George Campbell of Coleman, OK and Mrs. Ernest Medley of Ft. Worth. Brothers, Bruce Short, Lonzo Short, Howard Short all of Flagstaff, AZ and Ben Short of California.
