Born in KY or NC, Moses Swaim married Eleanor Youngblood 05 Dec 1833 in Fountain County, IN. This couple had two sons, Peter and Harvey. By 1844, the Moses Swaim family had moved to MO and Moses Swaim, apparently a widower, married Mary Jane Barnes in Platte County, MO, on 08 Sep 1844. A daughter, Mary Jane Swaim, was born there on 05 Aug 1847. Mary Jane married Larkin "Lark" Bayley Burchell in Denton County, TX, on 02 Sep 1881. No additional information was found for Moses' two sons, Peter and Harvey, after their entry on the 1850 Platte County, MO, Census.
After the death of his second wife, Mary Jane, circa 1847, Moses Swaim married Rebecca Denny in Platte County, MO, on 07 May 1848; record copied to right. The 1850 Platte County Census lists the household of Moses Swaim with his wife, Rebecca, and his children, Peter, Harvey, and Mary. Unable to locate the Swaim family in 1860, by 1870 the family resided in Precinct 1, Denton, TX. Moses Swaim died sometime after the 1870 census. His widow, Rebecca, was living in Precinct 8, Denton, TX, in 1880.

Death date is courtesy of Swaim descendant, Pam Walter Crugnale. Because Ms. Crugnale reported 2013 that the family lived near Gribble Springs, the Mr. Swaim's memorial was placed in this cemetery. Also, the father-in-law of Mr. Swaim's daughter, Rebecca Myers nee Swaim, was buried here: Jacob Myers (1827-1859), Find A Grave Memorial# 73792597. Burial location remains unknown.
