Born circa 1821 in KY the daughter of Robert C. Denny and Sally Jones, Rebecca Denny married widower Moses Swaim 07 May 1848 in Platte County, MO. In 1850, Rebecca (Denny) Swaim lived in Platte County with her husband, Moses Swaim, and his two sons and a daughter by his previous marriages.

This Swaim family appeared on the 1850 Platte County Census in dwelling #40. Rebecca's parents, Robert C. and Sally Denny/Denney, her bother and sister, Jefferson and Mary, were listed in dwelling #39. Her brother, James, & his family appeared in dwelling #41. Although successive dwelling numbers do not confirm proximity and family, they strongly suggest such a connection. Also, a review of the Robert C. Denny family 1840 appearance in Decatur County, IN, supports the inclusion of the first born daughter, Rebecca, with the other three children: James Perry, Jefferson, and Mary.

Unable to locate the Swaim family in 1860, by 1870 the family resided in Denton, TX. Moses Swaim died sometime after the 1870 census. By 1880 the widow, Rebecca (Denny) Swaim, was living with her son, Michael. Because above the 1880 Swaim household entry was Philo Myers and household entry below was Mary Myres age 52, Rebecca Swaim nee Denny's memorial was placed in this cemetery; daughter Rebecca's mother-in-law, Mary Lingle Myers (1827-1892), rests here.

Death date is courtesy of Swaim descendant, Pam Walter Crugnale. Because Ms. Crugnale reported 2013 that the family lived near Gribble Springs, Mr. Swaim's memorial was placed in Gribble Springs Cemetery. Actual burial location remains unknown.
