Wm. P. Derieg Funeral Held At Michigan Friday
Last rites for William P. Derieg, a former resident of the Fairview community and brother of Pete Derieg and Mrs. Tom Fallon, Carnegie, were held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 15, at Kalamazoo, Mich. Donovan Funeral home was in charge and burial was at a Kalamazoo cemetery.
Rosary was held Thursday evening and High Mass was said at the funeral.
Derieg, who grew to manhood on a farm five miles north of Carnegie, had lived in Kalamazoo for many years. His daughter, Patricia Ann, had eaten supper with him Saturday evening, January 9, and he had taken her to her home. He returned to his home and had lain down. He died a short time later.
By Monday the pets in his Siamese cattery began to cry loudly when he failed to make his usual visits. No one could get him on the telephone. His body was found by his daughter and her mother about 8 p.m. Monday.
Derieg was born December 31, 1901 at El Reno, and Came here with his parents about 1903.
He is survived by the daughter, Patricia Ann of Kalamazoo; three brothers, Pete of Carnegie, George and Mike of Lincoln, Neb.; and three sisters, Mrs. Tom Fallon, Carnegie, Mrs. Nick Musshaven, Linwood, N.Y., and Mrs. J.W. Ziska, St. Louis, Mo.
