Michael Derieg, Former Resident, Dies In Nebraska
Funeral services for Michael A. "Mike" Derieg, Lincoln, Neb., a former resident of the Fairview community north of town, and a brother of Pete Derieg and Mrs. Tom Fallon, Carnegie, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Roberts Memorial chapel in Lincoln.
The Reverend William Cross, Episcopalian minister, officiated. Masons presented rites at the chapel and the American Legion was in charge of services at the cemetery.
Derieg, 68, a native of Waverly, Neb., came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Derieg in 1904 to a farm five miles north of town, where Garland Giles now resides. He was reared there and attended the Fairview school.
He was a Veteran of World War I. He later went to Lincoln where he retired in 1963 as an employee of the Burlington Railroad. He was a welder in the railroad shops for almost 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Leola of the Lincoln home; two brothers, George of Lincoln and Pete of Carnegie; two sisters, Mrs. Fallon, Carnegie, and Mrs. Nick Musshafen of Union City, several nieces and nephews.
Pete Derieg and his sister, Mrs. Fallon, attended the services. They went by plane Sunday and returned Tuesday.
