Funeral Services For Mrs. L. Derieg Will Be Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. L. Derieg, pioneer resident of the Fairview community, north of Carnegie, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday morning at St. Richard's Catholic church, Carnegie, with Father Francis Maguire officiating. Burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery.
Mrs. Derieg came from El Reno with her family more than 50 years ago to the farm five miles north of Carnegie. She saw the Fairview school established on the Derieg farm and saw it transfer into the city system. She saw farm homes change from small pioneer houses to modern ones. She went about a year ago to visit her sons and daughters in other states. Her health had not been too good for some time. She arrived in November in Linwood, N.Y., at her daughter's, Mrs. Nick Musshafen, and had been there until her death Sunday.
Lurena Jane Bainbridge was born June 28, 1875, at Waverly, Neb., and was married to William A. Derieg in 1893 at Greenwood, Neb. She and her fami8ly came to El Reno in 1895 and from there to the present home. Mr. Derieg preceded her in death in 1910. She was the mother of 12 children, five preceding her in death.
Survivors include: four sons, Mike and George of Lincoln, Neb.; William Paul of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Anthony Pete of Carnegie; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Musshafen of Linwood, Mrs. Lurena Fallon of Carnegie and Mrs. Nellie Ziska of Ashtabula, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. A.H. Otley of Waverly, Neb., and 23 grandchildren.
