Services for Wilfred J. Welle, age 84, of Meire Grove, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 at his home, were Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove.
Rev. Ken Popp officiated, with burial following in the parish cemetery.
Wilfred Joseph Welle was born Feb. 9, 1915 in Grove Township, Stearns County, to Joseph and Anna (Schoenberg) Welle. He was united in marriage to Ledvina Berns on Oct. 25, 1938 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed in Getty Township, Stearns County until retiring in 1978 and moving to Meire Grove. Wilfred was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Society, the St. Joseph's Sodality and the Poor Souls Society. He loved woodworking, crafts, gardening and ice fishing.
He is survived by his eight children, Ken Welle and Terry of Meire Grove, Allan Welle of Avon, Tom Welle and Marge of Sauk Centre, Diane Moritz and Robert of Waite Park, Roger Welle and Joyce of Greenwald, Grace Carlson and Richard of Albany, David Welle and Jan of Rockville, and Mark Welle and Lola of Sauk Centre; sister, Anna Marie Imdieke and Elmer of Meire Grove; 35 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ledvina, who died April 3, 1999; son, William in 1974; brothers, Joseph, Adelbert, Martin, Leo, Henry, Anthony and Ervin Welle; and sisters, Elizabeth Ellering, Mary Rieland, Loretta Welle and Catherine Singsank.
Casket bearers were Abe, Scott, John, Jamie, Todd and Eric Welle, Peter and Paul Carlson. Cross bearer was Luke Welle and scripture bearer was Laurel Welle.
