Elizabeth "Lizzie" Welle was born November 19, 1904 on the Welle family farm north of Meire Grove, MN. Lizzie was the first of the 13 children born to Joseph J. and Anna (Schoenberg) Welle.

Lizzie was also the first grandchild of her maternal grandparents, Martin & Katherine (Gerads) Schoenberg of Spring Hill, MN.

At the age of 20, Lizzie Welle married Alphones Ellering on September 30, 1925 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Meire Grove, MN.

The couple had 5 children:

- Joseph B. Ellering
- Ann Mary Roehrl
- Anthony B. Ellering
- Alphonse J. Ellering
- Mary E. Latzka Jacobs

Lizzie & Al Ellering owned & operated the farm that belonged to Al's parents, Ben & Mary (Lois) Ellering. The family farm is located in the southern portion of Section 21 & 22 of Grove Township in Stearns County, MN. In Section 22, there is a body of water named after the owner of the property: Ellering's Lake.

Lizzie & Al Ellering sold the family farm to their son, Tony Ellering & his wife Mary Margaret Ellering. Today the Ellering farm remains in the family and is classified as a Century Farm in Stearns County Minnesota.

18 years after being widdowed, Lizzie Ellering passed away on July 22, 1986 in Melrose, MN. Lizzie is buried next to her husband in Plot 59 in Row 7 of Section E.
