Daughter of Robert and Judith Carter Browne Lewis. Married George Washington Bassett 1 August 1826.Of "Cloverlea" in Hanover Co.Her father Capt. Lewis was the nephew and private secretary for General George Washington. He was the son of Col. Fielding Lewis and Betty Washington Lewis.

Died at Mordington, the residence of her daughter. Betty was married at the age of eighteen at the Mary Ball Washington House.
