Mrs. Virginia Smock, 65, Jacksonville, formerly of Roodhouse, died early Saturday morning, May 12 at Passavant Hospital.
She was born Sept. 13, 1918 in Athensville, a daughter of Ernest and Beryl Standridge Barnard. She married Everett Smock on May 1, 1937 in Carrollton and he survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Sandra Sue Bingeman, Roodhouse; Patricia Ann Foreman, and Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Weber, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Johnson, Jerseyville; a son, Marshall Eugene Smock, Roodhouse; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Mintford E. Barnard, Palmyra; Gilbert Barnard, Jacksonville; junior Lee Barnard, Tampa, Florida; three sisters, Ilene Krystynick, Chicago; Irene LeMasters, Springfield and Betty Hildebrandt, Evansville, Indiana.
The was preceded in death by three children.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Roodhouse and a supervisor at the Jacksonville Mental Health Center for many years.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mackey-Dawes Funeral Home, with burial in Fernwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
