He farmed in the Nora area until his marriage to Ethel Riber on September 13, 1942. Ralph then entered the United States Army to serve his country during World War II. He was stationed in Pittsurg, PA, Tampa, FL, and was also assigned overseas duty in India. After his discharge, they returned to Nora to continue farming until the early 1950's when they purchased a farm north of Guide Rock. His wife died February 14, 1989.
Ralph was a member of United Methodist Church, American Legion and V.F.W., all of Guide Rock.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; twins, Barbara and Robert; a son, Bill; three sisters, Marie Bargen, Helen Crook and Elda Thayer; one brother, Lynn Thayer; and an infant brother, John.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Kimminau of Guide Rock; one son, Vic of Tomball, Texas; one brother, Jon Dale of Abilene, Kansas; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 1995, at United Methodist Church in Guide Rock, with the Rev. Dennis R. Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Guide Rock Cemetery. Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud was in charge of the arrangements.
