George Darwin Thayer was born June 15, 1882, at Roseville, Illinois, the son of John Windsor and Mary Thayer. He came to Nebraska with his parents while quite young and has remained in the Nora vicinity being engaged in farming.

Mr. Thayer was married to Cora Cubbon on February 5, 1908 at her home near Nora. To this union were born 7 children: Elda Alberta and John Woodrow, both now deceased, Helen Crook of Superior, Nebraska, Ralph Leon of Guide Rock, Lynn Earl of Nora, Mary Marie Bargen of Superior, and Jon Dale of Belleville, Kansas.

Mr. Thayer joined the Nora Christian Church in his youth. always been active in the church, son Christian Church (NOTE: typed as written in the newspaper) He has alwaysbeen (sic) active in the church, having at various times served as Sunday School Superintendent, Elder, Deacon, and Trustee.

Mr. Thayer passed away July 10, 1965, at the Brodstone Memorial hospital (sic). He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Mary Jones, Dura Williams and Edith Williams, two brothers, Arthur and Frank Thayer, two children, Elda and John Woodrow, and two grandchildren, Barbara Jean and Robert Dean Thayer.

He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and one sister, Blanche Browning of Savannah, Mo. In addition he leaves many nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Nelson on Monday, July 12 with Victor Schwarz officiating. Interment was in the Nora cemetery (sic). Casket bearers were Clyde Gerbeling, Dale Gerbeling, Elmer Jones, Ralph Aikin, H. McAdamson (sic) and Chester Shipman.

The Klawitter Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
