Funeral services will be held at at (sic) 2:00 today (Thursday) for Mrs. George (Cora) Thayer who passed away Tuesday, January 17. She was 77.

Services will be held in the Nelson Christian Church with Rev. Victor Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in the Nora cemetery (sic) with the Klawitter Funeral Home in charge.

Paul (sic) bearers are Clyde Gerbeling, Elmer Jones, H. Mc Adamson, Ralph Aiken, Chester Shipman and Max Lanham.

Cora Cubbon Thayer was born November 20, 1889, at Elizabeth, Illinois, the daughter of John J. and Ida Mae Cubbon. On February 5, 1908, she was married to George Thayer at her home near Nora, Nebraska. To this union were born seven children: Elda Alberta and John Woodrow, both now deceased; Helen Crook of Superior; Ralph Leon of Guide Rock; Lynn Earl of Nora; Mary Marie Bargen of Superior; and Jon Dale of Belleville, Kansas.

Mrs. Thayer has lived around Nora most of her life. She played the piano for the Christian Church at Nora where she was a member until it closed. Then she transferred her membership to the Nelson Christian Church where she was active until her death. She held the honorary office of Deaconess Emeritus.

Cora Thayer passed away January 17, 1967, in the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior. Preceding her in death were her husband, two children, and two grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
