Lillie Victoria Gurley was the 6th child born to Andrew Jackson Gurley and Louisa Victoria Jordan. She married William Virgil Stone,April 19,1924 in Crowell ,Texas. They were the parents of 4 children;Elva Lou(1925-1995),Cloyd William(1928-1930),Bobby Wyzon(1933-2014) and Phenia Sue(1935-1938).Cloyd William died at the age of 2yrs,5m and Phenia Sue died at the age of 2yrs,4m.

Sometime after the birth of my mother,Elva Lou in Crowell Texas,my grandpa and grandma Stone are in Haskel Co. Rule, Texas. This is were my great grandpa John William and Great grandma Phenia are living and Cloyd William is born here.Shortly after the birth of Cloyd they are in Bloomington,Greer Co. Oklahoma, where grandma Lillie's parents,my great grand parents Andrew and Louisa Gurley and some of grandma Lillie's siblings are living on farms and working the cotton fields. While they are living in Oklahoma Cloyd William passes away in 1930 and sometime after that, they move to Progress,Texas and run a laundry, where grandma Lillie's sister Dora and her husband are living and own a store. They then move just a little ways to Muleshoe Texas, this is where their son Bobby and daughter Phenia Sue are born.My aunt Lois's memoirs say that Virgil is working fields and later working in a cafe in Muleshoe. My grandpa Virgil got pnuemonia every year from the Dust Bowls of Oklahoma and Texas. In March of 1938,they moved to Lindrith, New Mexico to where grandmas sister Dora and husband had moved and doing well in farming. They didn't know at the time Phenia Sue had been exposed to measles. They brought her to Albuquerque New Mexico where she passed away from measles and pnuemonia. As my cousin Anita writes in her book Pilgrimage,"It is hard to imagine the death of one child, but heart-stopping to think of loosing two. That is what happened to my Aunt Lillie and Uncle Virgil."..They must have stayed back in Muleshoe after the death of Phenia Sue and grandpa Gurley and not gone back to Lindrith as in my mothers autograph book there are school kids who wrote in it, with dates from April 24, 1938 until May 16,1939.The dates of friends are saying they are sorry she will be moving and note there in school next year

Just a week after Phenia Sue's death ,my grandma Lillie's father Andrew Gurley took sick and passed away also.He and Phenia Sue are buried in The Bailey Cemetery ,Muleshoe Texas in the family plots. This is also where Louisa Victoria "Little Grandma Gurley" ,when she passes away in California in 1954, is brought back and laid to rest.Shortly after the date of May 1939 ,Grandma Lillie, grandpa Virgil and their two children Elva Lou and Bobby left Muleshoe and headed to San Fernando California, where some of her siblings had finally settled.Grandpa Vigil and grandma Lillie ran a fruit stand and he cooked in a cafe.Sometime in 1943,after my dad Oda went overseas during WWII, grandpa Virgil grandama Lillie my mother Elva Lou and brother Bill returned to Lindrith. In May,1944 another tragic thing happened, Dora's son Billy Shipman was shot and killed by a man,so grandma, grandpa, mother and Bill, in January 1945 returned to California. In June of 1948 after only 24 years of marriage ,grandpa Virgil passed away from lung problems.

In January of 1954 grandma Lillie,my mother Elva Lou,my dad Oda and us four children moved to Albuquerque New Mexico.By this time Bobby had married and he stayed in California.Even with all these tragedies,I still remember my Grandma Lillie was beautiful,a loving ,talented, family loving person. She lived with us from the time I can remember and she and I shared a bedroom. She wrote poems and had a song published.Dora and family had moved from Lindrith to Albuquerque, and 2 more of her siblings had settled in Albuquerque and she was always planning big get togethers, especially for the holidays. She sold Avon and Sarah Coventry Jewely, she crocheted beautiful doilies and clothes for my Barbie doll. She made beautiful dresses for me,I have pictures of me wearing them. She opened a ceramic store, where she made and sold ceramics.Family still have alot of things they made at her store and things she made them. But tragically in January 1964 she and a good friend were coming back from Farmington,New Mexico and had a wreck. They were both killed instantly. She is buried in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery,Albuquerque,New Mexico.
