Lois Katherine Gurley Wells, long-time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 9, 2016, at the age of 98. Lois was born in Reed, Oklahoma in 1917. She was the youngest of eight children and loved her huge extended family. She married Edward James Wells in 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they settled in New Mexico in 1955. Lois spent most of her life in New Mexico which she loved for its clear blue skies and majestic white clouds. She attended TVI in the 60s and prepared income tax papers and did accounting in her home. She enjoyed many hobbies including: gardening, stamp collecting, crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting, quilting and making scrapbooks. She was also an avid family historian and did much to preserve her family history including writing her memoirs “The Story of a Child”. Lois was baptized into the Catholic faith on her 76th birthday, November 20, 1993. She was a member of St. Therese the Little Flower Parish. Lois was pre-deceased by her parents Louisa and Andrew Gurley, all of her brothers and sisters, her husband Edward Wells and her son- in- law, Gerry McCormick. She is survived by her daughter Tonia McCormick of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her daughter Anita Andazola and husband James Andazola of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Her grandchildren; Beth McCormick, Sue Simpson, James McCormick, Jimmy Andazola, Lonnie Andazola, Jon Andazola and families; Her great grandsons: Sean and Ryan Simpson and families; her great-great grandchildren Elias and Amelia Simpson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Vigil Frenches Mortuary Thursday January 14, 2016 from 3 to 6 PM.
Mass of the Resurrection: St. Therese the Little Flower Church Friday January 15 at 9 A
