Son of Virgil Stone and Lillie Victoria (Gurley) Stone

Maternal grandparents: Andrew Jackson Gurley and Louisa Victoria (Jordan) Gurley

Paternal grandparents: John William Stone and Phenia (Young) Stone

My grandpa Virgil, grandma Lillie and Elva Lou(4yrs.) were in Haskell Co.,Rule Texas at the time of Cloyd Williams birth(Mar.15,1928).My research found Cloyd William's paternal grandparents John William and Phenia Stone, living in Haskell Co.,Rule Texas at this time.Shortly after Cloyd Williams birth, they moved to Greer Co.,Bloomington Oklahoma, where his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Louisa Gurley were living and working farms. The 1930 census has them in Bloomington,Greer Co., Oklahoma with Orvill Daniel Stone(21yrs.),Virgil's brother living with them.On October 9,1930 Cloyd William passed away,in Greer Co.,Mangum Oklahoma.

In my Aunt Lois' book of her memoirs "The Story of A Child" she writes:

"Lillie and Virgil lived on a farm south of us.They had two children,Elva Lou and Cloyd William.A very sad time for all of us when the baby took sick and they took him to Mangum. He died at Lucy's home. Lillie was staying so she could be close to a doctor. He was only two and a half years old.The doctor said acute indigestion but Lillie always thought he had appendicitis. He was buried in Reed, Oklahoma Cemetery and has an upright stone,an angel,I think."

Lucy was Lois and Lillie's older sister, she was married to G.D. Price. They had Price's Farm in Greer Co., Oklahoma and my great grandpa, great grandma, uncle Boyd(16yrs.)and aunt Lois(11yrs.) Gurley lived and worked on the farm.Lucy and G.D. Price later sold the farm and moved 16 miles ,to Greer Co.,Mangum Oklahoma. Sometime after Cloyd Williams birth,my grandpa Virgil and grandma Lillie moved to Greer Co.,Oklahoma,on a farm south of my great grandpa and grandma Gurley. My Aunt Lois says in her memoirs, they all worked the cotton fields on these farms, even the young children, running and playing in the cotton and picking it and putting in their mother's sacks. She tells of when mothers had babies, they would make them a bed on the back of their sacks and pull them along. When they cried, the mother stopped and changed their diaper, fed them and put them back to bed. She remembers my grandma Lillie doing that with her baby.
NOTE:(this would have been Cloyd William).

Shortly after the death of Cloyd William, grandpa Virgil and grandma Lillie moved to Muleshoe,Texas, 6 miles from where her sister, Dora and her husband John Shipman and children where living in Progress,Texas..Muleshoe is were their son Bobby Stone and daughter Phenia Sue Stone were born.(see Phenia Sue's memorial for further info)

NOTE:I will always be greatful to my Dear Aunt Lois for her memoirs.Had it not been for her I would never have been able to write any of this bio info for my Uncle Cloyd and my Aunt Phenia Sue, as they passed very young.I knew little about them as my grandma Lillie and my mother Elva Lou ,as far as I remember, didn't say much.I know this was a very tragic time for them, losing 2 small children.
