Zebidee was born to the union of Edmond and Mattie Dixon Lewis on February 16, 1908 in Clarksville, Texas. He received his early education in the Red River County School systems. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until he later relocated to Tyler, Texas.

God called Zebidee home on August 27, 1992, while living in the home of his daughter. His survivors include one son, Zebidee Lewis, Jr.; one daughter, Dorothy Love, both of Tyler, Texas; two brothers, Gavin Lewis and Oscar Lewis, both of Clarksville; three sisters, Barneta "Juanita" Behn and Lucille Anderson, both of Fresno, California, and Ollivett (C.A.) Young of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Edna Scott, Edwina Nelson and Bobbie Lewis; and three brothers, Jim Lewis, Sampson Lewis, and Jason Lewis.
