Jason Allen Lewis was born to the late Edmond and Mattie Lewis in Clarksville, Texas on September 19, 1918. He attended public schools in Texas, and accepted Christ at an early age. He married Mary Dinwiddie and to this union two children were born, Jason A. Lewis, Jr. and Oswald L. Lewis. After five years in the United States Army, he received an Honorable Discharge and moved to Stockton, California where he later was employed at the Naval Communications Center as a G.S.A. packer 5, and retired after 32 years of civil service.

In 1978, he married Dorothy Oliver. From this marriage, there were six stepchildren. He united with the Elbethel Baptist Church under the pastorage of the Rev. Raymond Guyton, Sr. He later moved to the Friendship Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until his health failed.

He departed this life Thursday, May 24, 1990 at Dameron Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memories, a lovely and devoted wife, Dorothy Lewis [Stockton, CA]; two sons, Jason A. Lewis, Jr. [San Francisco, CA] and Oswald Lewis [Stockton, CA]; three sisters, Lucille Anderson and Juanita Behn [both of Fresno] and Ollivette Young [Albuquerque, NM]; three brothers, Oscar Lewis and Gavin Lewis [both of Clarksville, TX] and Zebedee (Buddy) Lewis [McKinney, TX]; six stepchildren, Ester Lucas [Antlers, OK], Phillip (Skip) Oliver, James Oliver, Patricia Oliver, Theresa Smith and Debra Ashley [all of Stockton, CA]; nine grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services held Thursday, May 31, 1990 at 10:00 A.M., Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3645 Mary Street, Stockton, CA. Rev. Raymond Guyton, Sr., Officiating.
