Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Dec. 18, 1993, Saturday, p. 2-B:

SHREVEPORT, LA – Mr. O. Dykes Leabo died at HCA Highland Hospital on Dec. 16, 1993 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home at 3631 Southern Ave., from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 1993. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 1993 at Osborn Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. David Richter of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Leabo was a native of Shreveport, LA and a resident of Ft. Worth, TX for thirty years.

Mr. Leabo was a veteran of World War II and served as a Captain in the Air Force in the China-Burma theater during the war, where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, among other numerous medals and citations.

Mr. Leabo was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Walter Leabo and a sister, Kathleen Leabo-Goetzke.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Shirley Caine Leabo; daughters, Betsey Zamzow and her husband, Jeffrey of Bow, Washington and Jeannie Mathias and her husband, Mike of Shreveport, LA; one son, John Dykes Leabo of Dallas, TX; his sisters, Patsy Spinks and her husband, Lee and Carroll Leabo, all of Lafayette, LA; his grandchildren, Kathleen DeCatur, Allyson Yamauchi, Michael, Stephen and Aimee Mathias, Rene Wiggins and John Pickens.

Pallbearers will be Mike Mathias, Jeff Zamzow, Michael Mathias, Jr., Stephen Mathias, John Pickens and William Wiggins.

The family request that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
