His actual name was Alfred M. Scroggs but was called Fred. Alfred was born June 1871 in Dade County, Missouri to William Lee Scroggs and Leah Caroline Mitchell.

He married Rosa L. Collier 15 October 1908 in Lamar, Barton County, Missouri.

He died in Iola, Allen County, Kansas.

Alfred had one son, Luther Allen Scroggs.

Mr. Fred Scroggs, died of paralysis at half past eleven Tuesday night. Aged 47 years. Funeral services held at his home yesterday afternoon were attended by his brother L.M. Scroggs, from Stonewall, Okla., and Mrs. Scroggs' sister from their old home Greenfield, Mo.

The body was taken to Greenfield by Mrs. Scroggs, accompanied by her child, her sister and her brother in-law. Mr. Scroggs had lived here for a good many years, engaging in several ???? business. He is perhaps best remembered at the agent for the Star and Time, but was conducting a shoe repair shop at the time his stroke of paralysis rendered him helpless.
