Born at Beaver Cree, Md., the son of Milton and Sarah (Foltz) Witmer, Mr. Witmer came from Beaver Creek to Mont Alto where he had farmed until 1919. He retired from active farming and moved to Hooverville. He was employed at the Wertz orchards for 15 years. Since April he has made his home in Waynesboro.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Waynesboro.
Surviving are his wife, Ida (Burger) Witmer; three daughters, Mary and Estella, at home; Mrs. Paul Curfman, Northumberland; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Suman, Beaver Creek; two brothers, Edward and Joseph of Hagerstown.
