Joe Fred Butler, Sr., age 81, of Tompkinsville, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
He was born April 29, 1929 in Monroe County, KY to the late John T. Butler and Florence Havana Bowman Butler. He was a retired supervisor for Texas Eastern Gas Corp. He was united in marriage to Betty Head on July 27, 1945 and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife: Betty (Head) Butler, one son and special friend: Joe Fred Butler, Jr., and Betty Jo Hall, one daughter and son-in-law: Carolyn and Steve Curtis all of Tompkinsville, one grandson: Brad Curtis of Louisville, three brothers: Jackie Ned Butler of Jacksonville, FL, James Ted Butler of Trafalgar, IN. Isaac Edd Butler of Cave City, KY, two sisters: Dixie Belle (Butler) Carter of Tompkinsville, Nancy Turner of Franklin, IN.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: John Tom Butler and George Eagle Butler, two sisters: Alice Odell Francis and Trixie Nell LaMotte.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 31, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
