JOSEPH LAMBIRTH
Many friends in this vicinity will regret to learn of the passing away of Mr. Joseph Lambirth, which occurred on July 12, 1926, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 21 days. He had been in failing health for several years, suffering with a complication of troubles, but was able to be about and was on the street Saturday.
Funeral services, conducted by W. S. McNaught, of Des Moines, assisted by M. C. Lorimor, of this city, were held at the family home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, after which interment took place in the Chariton cemetery.
Joseph Lambirth was born in Jefferson county, Iowa, on September 22, 1847. He was married in Henry county, Iowa, in 1868, to Miss Susannah Caviness, who survives him. To them seven children were born, four of whom have preceded their father in death. One son died in infancy, a daughter, Mrs. Harriett Peck, and two sons, Roy and Charles, passing away after reaching mature years.
Three children, with their mother, are left to mourn his passing away. They are Mrs. Minnie Morris, of Newell, Iowa; Ora Lambirth, of Mason City; and Earl, of Chariton
For many years the family home had been in Chariton and Mr. Lambirth was highly respected by all who knew him. He was honest and upright and had won many friends who will regret to learn of his demise. The sympathy of the community will be extended to the sorrowing wife and children.
