JOSEPH LEROY LAMBIRTH

Joseph Leroy Lambirth passed away at the home of his father-in-law, Noah Moore, in Whitebreast township, on Tuesday night, May 27th, 1913, at 9 o'clock, at the age of twenty-seven years, two months and sixteen days.

On May 15th of last year, while in the employ of the C. B. & Q. he met with an accident which finally resulted in his death. At that time he was engaged in tunneling under the track at Oakley, preparatory to putting in a culvert, when the dirt caved in, burying him beneath the debris, and breaking his back.

He was taken to the hospital in Ottumwa where he received treatment for several months, and afterward was taken to the hospital in Chicago where he was given attention by a specialist for a time, but he received little benefit and death came Tuesday night as a welcome release from his sufferings.

Roy Lambirth was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lambirth, of this city, and was born in Chariton on March 11th, 1886. He was married here several years ago to Miss Blanche Moore, who survives him. One child was born to them last July but it lived but a short time.

Roy was an energetic, worthy young man, possessing a pleasant disposition, and was highly regarded by all who knew him.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Burhl Gilpin, will be held at the Christian church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery.

The sorrowing wife, parents and other relatives will have the sympathy of the entire community.
