Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Central Lake Chapel of the Mortensen Funeral Homes. The Rev. Estel Clark will officiate. Graveside services will be under the auspices of the Torch Post VFW No. 6985 and held at Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Township.
Mr. Murray was born Feb. 24, 1924, in East Jordan, the son of Clarence and Grace MacMillan Murray. He resided in East Jordan all his life and had been a finish carpenter and brick-layer until his retirement in 1962.
He worked for the Petrie Construction Co. of East Jordan for 10 years.
Mr. Murray was a member of the Torch Post, VFW No. 6985 and served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained while in the service.
On April 15, 1950, he married the former Betty Dougherty in East Jordan.
Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Richard, and Thomas, two daughters, Glenda and Joanne; three brothers, Lloyd, Leo and Max; one sister, Verna; 11 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Russell, Cecil, Stanley, Zell and Dale and one sister, Joyce Lamoreaux.
