Anderson Independent Mail, 16 Sep 1961 - Mrs. Myrtice Gurley Bailey, 41 R St., died at 11:15 pm Sat. at Anderson Hosp. following a 2-1/2 months illness. She was 81. A native of Hartwell, GA, she had lived in Anderson since 1926. She was a dau/o William R. & Emma Alford Gurley & was a member of the Oakwood Bapt. Church, president of the Alice Powell Circle & the TEL Sunday School class. Survivors include 5sons: William Eber Bailey-Hartwell, Denver C., Sidney M, H. Gerald & Farris O. Bailey, all of Anderson; 6daus: Mrs. Elon Ayers-Hartwell, Mrs. Leslie Powell, Mrs. Wilton Vickery, Mrs. Oscar Wilson, Mrs. Leon Wilson & Mrs. Ralph Grant, all of Anderson; 4bros: Pel, Adger. Carl & Ernest Gurley, all of Anderson & 4sis: Miss Beulah Gurley, Mrs. Ora Hardy & Mrs. Ola Farmer, all of Anderson & Mrs. Leona Reynolds-Kensington, MO. Services will be conducted Mon., at 5 pm at the Oakwood Bapt. Church. Burial will be in Old Silver Brook Cem. The body is at the home of a dau:, Mrs. Grant, 14 Broghan Ave. (Obit named pallbearers.)
